To search for multiple words, separate them with spaces. You can search on any combination of words from the author, title, subject, format, etc.
Examples:
Some words you search for may automatically search for variations, e.g. swim may also find results for swimming and swimmers.
To search for an exact phrase only, surround it with double quotation marks.
Example:
When you search for something, TALIS Plus looks at all your results and organises them into folders for you. You can use these folders to easily narrow down your results without having to enter more search terms.

dogs and get too many results. TALIS Plus offers you folder options such as Non-fiction, Crime, Video etc that let you target your search more specifically. Choose Crime, and you will now get just Crime items about dogs.Availability folder and choosing the Lending option.There are many different folder types for you to use to refine your search - they include Language, Time period, Region, Genre, Topic, Author and so on. You can keep on narrowing your search results down using the different folder options until you find the items you want. Note: options will only display if they will refine your current results.
Your search so far at the top left of the results pages shows your pathway to your current results list. It shows the search terms you entered and the browsing choices you made.
You can remove a term by clicking on the red cross (
) next to it. The results page will update to reflect the removal of that term.
Example:
Gardening then refine your search by choosing Lending, then Video from the left-hand menu options. Your search so far will look like:

You may decide that you want to see all lending videos, not just the gardening ones:
red cross next to gardening and the keyword will be removed from your search - your results will now show only lending videos:

You can sort by Relevance, Title, Date or Popularity
Want to know what's popular with our library users? Choose your favourite category e.g. Crime, then sort by popularity.
Searches are "AND" searches - results returned will contain all words and phrases you specified. Currently there is no way to perform an "OR" search.
Example:
A minus sign (-) immediately preceding a search term (word or phrase) excludes items containing the term. Using "NOT" also excludes terms.

You can search specific fields in a catalogue record e.g. author or title. Type in the fieldname:keyword combination that you want. Do not add a space before or after the colon.

If you enter a minus sign (-) immediately proceeding a field, such as -fieldname:keyword, items containing the specified term will be excluded from the search results.
